A troope of Bloomington High School North students will perform the Premiere of their original performance piece Dancers in the Dust at the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland in the Summer of 2008. The story revolves around the fate of Ida Rose Walker and her family as they struggle through the tragic times of the Oklahoma dust bowls of the mid nineteen-thirties. Told with a mixture of story, song and dance, the production has been built from improvisation and historical research before collating by Tracy Connor and North drama teacher Francesca Sobrer. Sobrer also directs the show. Dancers in the Dust includes live music from North standout musician Lewis Rogers, and choreography by Diane Buzzell.

The student cast and crew includes: Avery Wigglesworth, McCarry Reynolds, Miranda Gregory, Ethan Philbeck, Sarah Van Tassel, Sophie Krabnke, Chantel Martinez, Joy Msiska, Will Bray, James Halpin, Sahar Pastel-Daneshgar, Ethan Salle, Evan Small, Mattie Theobald, Nathaniel Elmer, Ridge Graham, Jordan Howell, Emily Kathman, Jonathan Hunter, and Sarah Weber.

Local performances of Dancers in the Dust are at 7:30pm, Nov. 8, 9, 16, and 17 in the BHSN Black Box Theater. General admission tickets cost ten dollars and they are eight dollars for students and seniors. Reservations are recommended at 330-7724, ext. 50235.

Even though the AHSTF and World Strives Training are hosting the Dancers in the Dust production, each participating student must raise $5000 to entertain worldwide audiences next summer in Edinburgh, Scotland.
